Alberto Giacometti ( / ˌdʒækəˈmɛti /, [1] US also / ˌdʒɑːk -/, [2] [3] [4] Italian: [alˈbɛrto dʒakoˈmetti]; 10 October 1901 - 11 January 1966) was a Swiss sculptor, painter, draftsman and printmaker. Beginning in 1922, he lived and worked mainly in Paris but regularly visited his hometown Borgonovo to see his family and work on his art.
